TED’S
City Stars Mall is the largest and perhaps busiest shopping center in Egypt. The client wished to encourage both its continental restaurant and its retail operations: a bakery, cheese room and beverage counter. The concept of a gourmet market suited this purpose, with an overall raw, industrial aesthetic characterized by a high exposed ceiling, brick and chrome claddings and fair faced concrete floors.
The restaurant was divided into indoor and ‘outdoor/sidewalk’ spaces with groupings of eclectic furnishings that create intimate seating niches. Each retail stand features thematically chosen materials and custom detailing. The bar selling fresh fruit juices, for instance, utilizes wooden crates and boxes emphasizing the ’farm fresh’ concept behind the product.
